That said, soon enough, the days wherein some users took a couple of minutes to merely copy text from a photo could perhaps be a thing of the past. Even the tedious task of digitizing hard copy documents could benefit from Live Text as well.

Beebom noted that OCR apps like Google Lens also do the same task as Live Text. However, having the function integrated natively into the Apple ecosystem is different.

How to Copy Text From Photos on iOS 15 via Photos App

MacRumors said that Live Text feature works on the Photos app itself, allowing users to copy the words from photos they have received from their contacts or taken previously.

  • To do so, open the Photos app on either iPhone or iPad.
  • Then, select the photo you want to copy the text.
  • Tap and hold on to the words on the image.
  • Drag the selection tool to highlight the text.
  • Afterward, lift your finger away from the device.
  • Select the "Copy."
  • Now, you may paste it to where you wish to put it.

How to Copy Text From Photo on iOS 15 via Camera App

The Verge noted that supported iPhone models could also copy text directly from the camera app even before capturing an image.

  • Open the camera app on your Apple smartphone or tablet.
  • Point the lens to the text you want to copy.
  • Click the "Live Text" button that appears as the device detects the words.
  • Select Copy.
  • Then, paste it elsewhere.

Meanwhile, iPhone and iPad users could also copy and paste text from photos they stumble upon while strolling the web.

  • Open the Safari app on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Tap and hold on to the photo you want to copy the text from.
