Foxconn Is Offering Cash Bonuses As A Recruitment Tool for Manufacturing iPhone 13s

Foxconn, one of Apple's biggest partners, is doing what it can to ramp up the production of the upcoming iPhone 13. And they're doing it the old-fashioned way.

MacRumors reports that Foxconn is allegedly offering considerable cash bonuses as a way of recruiting more workers in their fabs, mainly to help speed up and increase the production of the upcoming iPhone 13. They are reportedly offering signing bonuses as high as 8,000 Chinese Yuan (around $1235) to those willing to work at their factory in Zhengzhou, China. Apparently, the bonus also extends to returning employees and not just new recruits.

Since it's now considered the "peak season" of tech manufacturing, Foxconn is taking major steps forward in its production capabilities. But this is actually not the first time they've offered bonuses to employees to bolster production.

According to South China Morning Post, the company has previously offered 5,000-5,500 Yuan bonuses from last year until last month, both of which were also given during the peak season. And considering that their Zhengzhou plant is the biggest iPhone factory in the world, it's understandable that they'd need more manpower to get things done.

Apple is deep within the production of their next-generation iPhone 13, which is slated to release later this year.

Foxconn And iPhone 13 Production: Will They Make It In Time?

Many people have been awaiting the release of the iPhone 13 for a while now, which can be attributed to the global chip shortage that's been going on since last year. And Foxconn was among the hardest-hit in the industry.

Earlier in May, the company reported that the component shortage they're experiencing would worsen during the second quarter of 2021. This could explain why a good number of their factories reported as much as a 50 percent decrease in overall production, especially those in India which had a severe COVID-19 outbreak.

But the second quarter is ending on June 30, which could mean that component shortages will ease up further. Industries are also slowly being ordered to reopen, which might be one of the reasons why Foxconn's worker recruitment process is in full swing as of the moment.

Should You Be Excited for the iPhone 13?

If the rumors about the upcoming Apple smartphone are to be believed, then yes, you should be excited. A lot of experts are predicting the iPhone 13 to be a massive upgrade over the iPhone 12 in terms of performance.

For one, it's going to feature a much more powerful A15 Bionic processor, which outclasses its predecessor by a wide margin in a lot of leaked benchmarks. Aside from that, Apple is also equipping their new iPhone with a high refresh rate OLED screen that Samsung will provide. Insiders say that the screens are going to feature refresh rates as high as 120Hz, which would work wonders for all the fantastic visuals that iOS 15 will provide.
