Its lead is a mutant rodent, which is a martial arts master or Kung-Fu Panda-like. Some even saw its similarities with Rocket Raccoon of Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy."

When it launched on May 25, its fans faced an issue installing it. Later on, EA admitted that the technical issue of "Biomutant" and assured users that they are working on it.

The game has been facing multiple delays since 2017 due to the medical surgery that the lead developer had undergone. Since then, the overall direction of the game has been revamped.

However, according to GamesRadar, "Biomutant" does not seem to have benefitted from the vision changes.

Contrasting Characters and Backdrop

Funnily enough, the quirkiness and oddity of the characters are in contrast to the plot that it carries, GamesRadar also noted.

The backdrop of the "Biomutant" is the aftermath of corporate greed, nuclear power failure, and pollution. It is a depressing narrative to think of, actually. And as such, the world has since been wiped out, thus the big reset -- providing a primitive civilization vibe.

The creatures left after the painful destruction of the word are hybrid mutant cats, rabbits, and rodents coupled with a vast array of weapons. Ironically, these mammals speak in gibberish or child-like language, despite the unfortunate backdrop.

It has come to the extent that a narrator even had to explain what has been said after each dialogue. The child-like speaking characters are oddly placed in a bleak environment.

Vast Combat Skills and Weapons

The game, to its credit, has a long list of weapons to choose from. Also, the combat skills that the characters could learn throughout the game are numerous as well.

Players could unlock more abilities for their characters depending on the class type. Weapons, on the other hand, could also be unraveled throughout the gameplay. The multiple combos available have extended the possibilities that the players could get.

However, whenever each combat is performed, a comic book-style reaction appears for some reason. The developers must have been trying to stand out among other games, but it has made each attack seemingly weird.

Repetitive Objective

The characters are too unique due to their oddity. However, IGN noticed that the objectives of the game are quite formulaic and repetitive.

"Biomutant" though packed with a fantastic set of characters -- from its villains to the lead; has its flaw within its quests. Additionally, its story overstates itself, and in turn, diminishes its meaning. As such, it is a significant distraction from the brilliant characterization.

Confused

According to GamesRadar, "Biomutant" is highly influenced by a couple of other titles. It attempts to combine "Fortnite, "Monster Hunter," and even "Clank" in a single game. Thus, it sets off a confusing overall vision.

However, its oddity and seemingly lack of proper direction could have been its strongest trait. Although, the real problem could be the repetitive gameplay that players have to endure throughout.
