Aerion Supersonic's AS2 Silent Commercial Plane Might Not Arrive Due to Sudden Company Closure—Overture Airliner to Replace It?

Aerion Supersonic, one of the biggest jet developers across the globe, confirmed that it will soon shut down due to financial issues.

The giant plane creator said that its funding has finally dried up, preventing it to continue its operations to produce silent and super fast commercial jets.

The Florida-based supersonic business jet developer previously claimed that it will create a supersonic aircraft that will be used to transport people across places instead of war activities.

Previously, the giant jet developer said that it is developing the so-called AS2 supersonic business jet. This advanced plane is expected to have more than 1,000mph speed. Aerion Supersonic added that it can achieve this without generating cabin noise and sonic booms.

If this is true, this commercial plane will be so silent that people on the ground will not be able to hear it. The giant jet developer also claimed that it was supposed to be arriving this 2024. However, the awaited take-off of the advanced AS2 silent commercial plane could happen.
Although this is the case, there's still another hi-tech aircraft that can take its place.

Aerion Supersonic's AS2 replacement

According to Asian Aviation's latest report, Boom Supersonic, another giant jet creator, said that its Overture airliner could arrive this 2029.

Some rumors and speculations said that this jet could be the replacement for the canceled AS2 supersonic business jet. This new advanced aircraft could offer affordable supersonic flights on transoceanic routes at current business class, long-haul prices.

On the other hand, Aerospace Technology reported that the upcoming Overture airliner could be the fastest plane in the commercial market once it enters the field.

Boom Supersonic explained that the new supersonic jet will be equipped with a superior propulsion system. Aside from this, it could also have advanced silent features, reliable material, and more fuel-efficient capability once it is completed.

Its less fuel consumption feature could also be the reason why the company said that passengers don't need to pay huge amounts of money to experience riding this high-end supersonic aircraft.

Overture Airline's Speed

When it comes to speed, the new Overture airline could achieve a speed of Mach 2.2, which is more than twice the speed of sound. This means that Boom Supersonic's in-development aircraft could reach a speed of 2,335km/h.

On the other hand, it can go as high as 60,000ft. Aside from this, it can also perform a balanced take-off at a length of 3,048m.
