The new U.S. Presidential Supersonic Jet could arrive sooner than expected. It was also rumored to bring new features that are more advanced compared to other commercial planes and even other fighter jets.
According to CNN's latest report, the said technology was first revealed previously in September 2020 by a California start-up, Exosonic. The company said that it is working with the United States Air Force to develop a supersonic plane, which could also function as an Air Force One aircraft.
The U.S. Presidential and Executive Airlift Directorate (P.E.) gave the Exosonic a contract. The collaboration of the two agencies was formed after the Exosonic impressed the U.S. Military with its concept for a low-boom supersonic Mach 1.8 twinjet.
To give you more idea, here are the major details you should expect.
US Presidential Supersonic Jet's details
Exosonic's upcoming aircraft is expected to be used by the U.S. Executive Brach's distinguished visitors or DVs. Aside from being used as an Air Force One, the giant manufacturer also stated that it could also be used as an Air Force Two, which is the plane that is used to carry the U.S. vice president.

"With this concept, we are planning to implement new technologies that are not available today or that you don't (yet) see on commercial or business aircraft,' said Exosonic's Principal Aircraft Interior Designer Stephanie Chahan.
"So whether they're flying the vice president or the first lady, or the first gentleman, we'd have a lot of flexibility here," she added.
Exosonic's upcoming supersonic jet is expected to have a 5,000-nautical-mile range.
Aside from this, it could also use boom-softening techniques, which could allow it to reach almost twice the speed of sound without making too much noise.
On the other hand, the upcoming advanced aircraft could boast a speed of Mach 1.8, which is around 1,381 miles per hour. This means that it could be two times faster than the current cruising speed of a long-distance commercial plane.
Exosonic also added that its upcoming U.S. Presidential Supersonic Jet could arrive by 2030.
Is it the fastest commercial jet?
Exosonic's new aircraft might sound promising, but it may not be the fastest commercial jet since there is another aircraft rumored to reach five times the speed of sound. The Byte previously reported that the U.S. Air Force also gave a contract to Hermeus, an aerospace startup, to develop a commercial jet that could reach ultra-fast speeds up to Mach 5.
