Sony PlayStation has big plans in terms of expanding its market, and an upcoming conference in the Far East is among the company's major stepping stones.
GameRant reports that Sony PlayStation is going to host a China conference on April 29th, with the presser officially airing at 11:00 AM CST. But since it's geared only to Chinese audiences, the digital-only event will mostly be watchable on the country's very own streaming and social media platforms. This includes Weibo and Bilibili, among others. And apparently, it will be streamed to a certain degree on TikTok as well.
The presser is expected to announce games related to the China Hero Project, which is an initiative that Sony PlayStation launched in an effort to help Chinese-funded game developers enter the global market, according to PlayStation Asia.

Is The Sony PlayStation 5 On Its Way To China?
The short answer is yes, but there's still no word when exactly it will happen. Sony got the go-ahead signal from the Chinese government to release the PlayStation 5 there back in December 2020. But with insane levels of demand for the next-gen console outpacing supply, the launch was brought to a screeching halt.
It's worth noting that China is one of those countries and regions that, despite the massive potential market for gaming, has never been considered a viable one by the games industry. In fact, the Xbox One, which was the first-ever gaming console to come to Chinese shores from the West, only managed to do so back in September of 2014.
Sony, on the other hand, has actually been trying to tap into the Chinese market for a while now, with not much success. Their most recent attempt was the delivery of the PlayStation 4 and Vita, alongside Microsoft's Xbox One.
With the very successful release of the PlayStation 5, Sony is on the verge of bringing next-gen gaming to a market that has seen multiple bans on video games, including a 14-year-long one that was only lifted seven years ago.
What to Expect From the Sony PlayStation Event
Sony's PlayStation press conference in China is likely going to feature a good number of AAA-level titles from homegrown developers. One of these is the game called Lost Soul Aside, from the studio UltiZero games.
The title seems to be the main focus of Sony PlayStation for the imminent conference, and maybe for good reason. The game's creator, Yang Bing, is known for citing the Final Fantasy games as an inspiration. It's a third-person action game with visuals that do resemble the look of Square Enix's biggest franchise, and based on the reaction to a teaser trailer released in 2016, it might become a hit.
There's also the action RPG Black Myth: Wukong. Developed by the Chinese indie developer Game Science, it debuted last year with a video which critics and fans praised for its blend of insane graphics and fast-paced gameplay. There's no official word yet on whether the game is going to be a part of the Sony PlayStation conference, though one can hope.
