Redmi K40 Gaming Edition could be the next big competitor of the current Asus ROG Phone 5 when it comes to mobile games. However, this could still take a long time since Redmi hasn't confirmed its global release as of the moment.
Although this is the case, rumors were still able to provide the possible features that the new Redmi K40 Gaming Edition could offer. Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, confirmed that its upcoming Redmi K40 Gaming Edition or Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Version will be its first gaming smartphone.
Some rumors stated that this new gaming device could have the new MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC (System On a Chip).
But, can this new processor help Redmi K40 Gaming Edition compete or even beat the latest Asus ROG Phone 5?
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition Vs. Asus ROG Phone 5
According to News18's latest report, Redmi K40 Gaming Edition will have the Dimensity 1200 processor, triple rear cameras, and some pop-up buttons, which are also similar to the ones integrated into the Black Shark series.
These buttons will allow the first Redmi gaming smartphone to provide a gamepad-like experience. Aside from this, the upcoming Redmi K40 Gaming Edition could also have a 144 Hertz refresh rate and support 67 Watts fast charging capability.
When it comes to the camera, the new Redmi flagship is allegedly having 64 megapixels Sony IMX686 sensor for its primary cam. As of the moment, these are all the features that are currently available.
On the other hand, its competitor, Asus ROG Phone 5, runs the Snapdragon 888, as reported by GSMArena. Just like the alleged MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC, ROG Phone 5's processor is also designed for high-end 5G smartphones.
If Redmi K40 will really have the new Dimensity 1200 chipset, then Asus should expect a new strong opponent. When it comes to the display, Asus ROG Phone 5 also packs 144 Hertz refresh rates for its display.
Redmi K40 Gaming Edition and Asus ROG Phone 5 also have the same 64 megapixels for their primary camera sensors. All these features just show that the two gaming smartphones have a lot in common.
It is still hard to conclude which one can offer a better gaming experience.
Where will it debut and when?
Right now, Redmi only confirmed that its new gaming smartphone will debut in Chine in Apr. 27. But, the tech giant manufacturer could also release its Redmi K40 Gaming Edition in India, which is one of its biggest markets. But, the company hasn't released any statement yet regarding its global availability.
