iPhone 14 and other next-generation Apple smartphone flagships could have some major camera enhancements. This information was first claimed by Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular Apple analyst and leaker.
He said that these major camera upgrades could arrive in the iPhone flagships that will be released this upcoming 2022. Kuo claimed that the new iPhone 14 could sport a 1/1.3 inch 48-megapixel CMOS image sensor for wide-angle camera module duties.
If you don't have any idea about CMOS or complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor sensors, it is used to develop photos in digital cams, digital video cameras, as well as digital CCTV cameras. This means that if Apple will use this image sensor, users can expect well-enhanced image outputs from the upcoming iPhone flagships.
Next-gen iPhones' major cam sensor updates
Kuo explained that the 48MP camera sensor could support hybrid operating modes. This is a great innovation since it will allow the iPhone model to maximize pixel size, as well as improve its hardware's light-gathering capabilities.
"We believe that the new 2H22 iPhone may support direct 48MP output and 12MP (four cells merge output mode) output simultaneously," explained Kuo via Apple Insider.
"With 12MP output, the CIS pixel size of the new 2H22 iPhone increases to about 2.5um, which is significantly larger than the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, and larger than existing Android phones, and close to the DSC level," he added.
Next-gen iPhones to have 8K video resolution
Aside from the whopping 48MP camera sensor, the Apple analyst also claimed that the new models could offer a massive 8K video recording resolution. This is a great improvement from the current 4K resolution limitation.
This new video resolution will not only provide HD footage but will also support augmented reality features. Thanks to this, iPhone fans could expect an enhanced AR experience.
Apple's other innovations
Aside from the iPhone camera enhancements, Apple is also allegedly studying how to improve its Apple Watch devices. MacRumors reported that the tech giant company is finding ways to know if its wearable gadgets can really detect COVID-19. If you want to know more details, all you need to do is click here.
