Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy A7 smartphone, which the company said is one of the slimmest Galaxy smartphones that still comes equipped with premium hardware and is focused for the user's social experience.
The Galaxy A7, which expands the Galaxy A series of the company, combines top-of-the-line multitasking capabilities with its sophisticated design. The smartphone looks to expand on the popular features found in its predecessors Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 that allowed users to capture and share moments easily on social media networks.
"We strive to develop devices that appeal to a broad range of consumers and are ahead of the next big social trend," said Samsung Electronics Head of IT & Mobile Communication and co-CEO JK Shin.
Shin added that the Galaxy A7, which combines a metallic design with powerful hardware, remains stylish while at the same time delivering a superior experience to its users.
The smartphone weighs 141 grams and has a 5.5-inch HD screen, with the entire device measuring 76.2 mm wide, 6.3 mm thick and 151 mm long. The device ships with the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
The Galaxy A7 features an eight-core processor that combines two separate quad-core processors, providing users with enough power to easily and quickly complete data-intensive processes. The Galaxy A7 is packed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of memory, and is powered by a 2,600 mAh battery. The memory of the device can be expanded through a microSD slot, up to 64GB.
The Galaxy A7 continues the defining features and services that were found in the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3, with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera that comes with advanced features for taking selfies. Such features include the options to take an "ultra wide shot" and the "auto selfie" mode, which allows users to take a selfie without needing to tap the smartphone's touch screen. Instead, the picture will be taken through the use of a voice command or through a wave of the user's hand.
The smartphone also has the "Always Clear Voice Auto Control" feature that reduces the noise coming from the environment, along with support for LTE Category 4 for fast uploads of pictures and videos on social networks.
The Galaxy A7 also has a "Private Mode," which provides users with an additional security layer for the protection of important documents and files stored within the device.
The smartphone will come in choices of colors of white, gold or dark blue. The price of the Galaxy A7 has not yet been revealed, but the company did say that it will remain competitive.
