The video game "Outsiders" have an expansive boss system that begins at the Solar Tower during the player's first mission outside of Rift Town.
Defeating Gauss in 'Outriders'
At the tower, the electrically-charged Altered boss Gauss awaits the player for their first boss fight.
While Captain Reiner could technically be the player's first battle with a mini-boss, his fight lies in the "Outriders" side quest A Bad Day, so he is not part of the main storyline and technically not a required fight.
As for Gauss, different strategies need to be used if players want to defeat him and advance in the game's storyline.
According to PC Invasions, Gauss is one of the few Altered in Enoch and uses deadly accurate electrical attacks to damage the player and limit their ability to move around the battle area.
Gauss abilities
Gauss can discharge a mine. This can spawn a mine on the player's location and it will persist for a long time throughout the fight, and touching it will zap the player's character, as per Segment Next.
Shock Shift is an ability that can make Gauss teleport to another location on the map. He also has an ability called Steel Wall in which he will periodically shield himself from all of the damage by using floating metal shards. Once he is done casting this ability, the metal plates will disappear.
The "Outriders" boss also has Metal Barrage. Several blue circles will appear on the ground and after a few seconds, shrapnel will rain down from the sky.
There's also Ball Lightning, where the "Outriders" boss will summon pairs of electric orbs that will float around the arena. If the player gets hit, they will be blasted away.
Lastly, Gauss has Lightning Storm and it is his deadliest ability. This causes multiple lightning strikes to hit the ground. The storms will also move around the area, as noted by Game Pur.
Gauss randomizes these attacks but players can see them coming when he charges them up. There will be an orange bar that will appear above his head during the charge and players will need to use one of their interrupt abilities to stop this from happening or to prepare for evasion.
Players need to make sure that they are close enough when using the ability and Gauss won't be able to get off most of these attacks.
However, he can still deal some smaller attacks that can ultimately lower or even empty their health in a hurry if players are not careful.
If he casts Ball Lightning and Lightning Storm, then you will be limited in where you can go in the area and also won't be able to shoot at him for very long without getting some damage.
In most cases, players would need to get behind some cover and shoot at Gauss with long-range weapon, like an AR or a sniper. Players need to avoid the blue lightning spots on the ground that are about to pop up by moving from cover to cover.
The one thing that players need to look out for is Gauss teleporting with Shock Shift and shocking the player for some massive damage. If this happens, it is best to retreat immediately and find a new and clean piece of cover.
