Razer will now continue its Project Hazel Smart Mask. The giant manufacturer first confirmed its new product previously during its CES back in January. And now, the company confirmed that it would continue its work to make Hazel Mask a reality.
According to PC Mag's latest report, this innovation will be helpful since wearing face masks is now included in people's everyday lives. Right now, most individuals are wearing disposable or simple cloth masks, which is still not that efficient when preventing the infection of the novel coronavirus, the disease responsible for the current global COVID-19 pandemic.
Yahoo News is the first one to confirm the company's continuation. Min-Lian Tan, the company's CEO, said on Wednesday, Mar. 24, that Razer is currently focusing on turning its Hazel Mask prototypes into a reality. He added that the manufacturer would soon start its production.
When will Hazel Mask be available?
As of the moment, Razer hasn't released any confirmation yet regarding the product's release date and price. The main reason behind this that the product is still an unfinished tech.
On the other hand, Tan also provided some reasons why Razer wants to make the new Hazel Mask into an actual product.
"I'll take you through the thought process. When the pandemic first hit, the disposable mask was in huge demand and we had to figure out how we could get these out globally," said Tan.
"We were thinking, this is a concept project and is this going to be relevant when vaccinations and everything has been rolled out," added the tech CEO.
Hazel Mask's features
The upcoming Hazel Mask is expected to be more efficient compared to the face masks that are currently available in the market. Razer confirmed that it would not be an ordinary wearable device since it will use Smart Pods and N95 medical-grade respirators, which are specifically designed to regulate air, as well as filter germs.
The giant tech manufacturer also explained the Hazel Mask's respirators could last for a whole day if it is fully charged. They are also removable and rechargeable.
It is expected to come with a wireless fast charging box that also works as a UV lightbox for killing infectious particles, such as viruses and bacteria.
