PS4 Internal Clock Issue Prevents Digital and Disc Games; How to Fix It

Your PlayStation 4 will no longer play digital and disc games if its internal clock battery dies. This issue was first leaked by the popular Twitter account that tests gaming gadgets.

"Everyone worrying about a non existent Denuvo problem when what they should be worrying about is ERROR CE 34878-0," said Twitter user @DoesItPlay1.

"When the ps4 cmos battery dies (and it will) it renders all ps4 digital files unusable without a server reconnection and in ps4 it also kills disc playback," added the user.

The previous post generated more than 640 likes, 130 quoted retweets, and 347 retweets. It made a huge fuss since some PS4 owners said they already jailbroke their gaming gadget for certain reasons, such as having mods for "Bloodborne."

However, another user in the comment section claimed that you can still fix your jailbroke PS4 by calling SetSecureTick. However, this method is not 100% efficient.

PS4 internal clock issue's explanation

On the other hand, Lance McDonald, a popular game analyst, explained that the error occurs because of PS4's Trophies. These are the ones that require your device's internal clock system to be accurate or correct.

He added that once your PS4's internal clock battery dies, you can no longer change your console's date or time. Lance added that if its battery is worn out, all the games saved on your PlayStation 4 will be deleted.

According to GamesRadar's latest report, the current issue suggests that your PlayStation 4 might soon refuse to play any games you install, making it obsolete.

How to fix it

PlayStation Lifestyle explained that PS4 owners could easily fix the current issue. All they need to do is to put a new battery for their internal clock system. After that, they need to sync their console with the PlayStation Network or PSN for their games to work. However, if Sony decides to pull the plug on the PS4's PSN, this efficient fix will never work again.
