Facebook Newsroom to Help Small Businesses Thrive During Pandemic Through Personalized Ads

Small businesses like restaurants and mini-stores have been hardly hit by the coronavirus pandemic since last year. As a result, many owners are forced to transition to online selling, and by that means using personalized ads.

There is no assurance that small businesses would be able to survive for the next months, but Facebook decided to create Facebook Newsroom to help them thrive amid the most difficult problem at the moment.

In a 2020 report of Facebook entitled "A Challenging Year for SMBS - Facebook & Small Business Roundtable," over 47% of owners who have small businesses said that they have no idea if they can survive the next six months.

This is because restrictions in selling have strayed far this time, and lockdown consequences only continue to blow which only force the owners to adjust according to the situation.

Truly, what happened to them is only one of the harsh realities that everyone has been dealing with at the moment. To alleviate the struggle of small business owners, Facebook came up with the idea of introducing personalized ads for all people, especially those who manage franchises and services.

"Good Ideas Deserve To Be Found," a national campaign of the company which aims to raise awareness and global solutions in the looming collapse of many businesses, said that the presence of personalized ads is highly important to acknowledge the struggling owners.

Andrew Stirk, the Facebook Company Marketing Head and Facebook App Monetization Director Helen Ma, spearheaded the small press roundtable for the Newsroom discussion last Feb. 24.

Several owners of small businesses have shared their stories, including the co-founder Brent Leary of CRM Essentials. His company is focused on improving the sales, customer service, and marketing of small businesses.

According to Leary, people have so much more to learn during the conference. The meeting, however, has only become more challenging due to the noise. In the end, he reminded the listeners that the personalized ads can catch the interest of the small business owners for sure.

The Importance of Personalized Ads for Small Businesses

In a report by Small Business Trends, Leary spoke to the business owners that Facebook Newsroom's ads will give them the upper-hand to turn the problem into an opportunity. He added that Facebook's campaign is only the start since the company is reportedly adding the Recovery Race, the simpler version of Ads Manager.

In this dashboard, business owners will have a big understanding of optimizing their campaigns. In addition, the said tool is also used on generating ads from Instagram, Messenger, and other social media messaging apps.

Through Checkout on Shops, owners are able to buy it by paying a small fee when they want to sell goods and services on Facebook. The said feature will be available until June.

On the other hand, it will also cater to the demands of the owners to launch paid online events. It will end in August this year.

Facebook also devised a way for owners, especially those who have restaurants to upload their menu to their respective pages. The type of dining experience will also be added to the feature.

Meanwhile, Leary said that the personalized ads are 'green lights' for small business owners. He believed that what Facebook thought is something that will not only help the struggling businesses to survive. They could also benefit from its small cost using simple tools to extend their service to their customers.
