[BREAKING] Netflix Was Down for an Hour in the UK; Here's What Happened

Streaming service Netflix was down for an hour and was inaccessible for thousands of subscribers across the United Kingdom, with numerous watchers being greeted with an error message stating, "Something went wrong. Sorry, we're having trouble with your request." and the error code NSES-500.

Why was Netflix not working?

Thousands of subscribers across the U.K. have reported that Netflix had connection problems, and it lasted for an hour. The viewers saw a pop-up error message that their request couldn't be granted, and an error code NSES-500 was displayed whenever they log into their account.

Netflix went on to explain that an issue caused the error code with the internet browser. Netflix stated that if the error code NSES-500, it means that the browser's information just needs to be refreshed.

Most of the reports about the interrupted service came from London, according to Down Detector Map. Cardiff, Glasgow, and Bournemouth were also affected by the Netflix issue.

Meanwhile, other major cities in the U.K. have reported some connectivity issues. In Dublin, subscribers have been affected by the same problem.

The official Twitter account of Netflix has been replying to the requests, questions, and reports by Netflix subscribers. Netflix tweeted that they are investigating the issue further.

Netflix also suggested that subscribers refresh their webpage and then log into the streaming service again.

Netflix back online

Netflix was able to fix the issue after an hour, as people are now posting on social media that their service is back on. Most of the complaints earlier today was around the issue of not being able to connect to the Netflix website and being unable to stream.

Most of the complaints also pointed out that the company should have a stronger system, especially after they announced that they will increase the subscription cost from £8.99 or $13 a month to £9.99 or $14 a month.

The premium account will now cost from £11.99 or $16 a month to £13.99 or $20 a month, but the basic plan will still remain at £5.99. or $9 a month, according to Express.Co.

According to Down Detector, more than 1,600 complaints were recorded on social media. Around 44% of reported issues were to do with "no connection," while one in three people with issues said that the main problem was that they couldn't access Netflix.

Numerous customers took their sentiments online and talked about the issue, with some subscribers saying that they get the error code NSES-500.

Netflix advises people to refresh the page and to try logging in again. But users pointed out that the advice did not work at all and could not access the streaming service for an hour. The main cause of damage is unknown, as subscribers were adamant in stating that it was not just a browser issue.

A spokesperson for Netflix told Daily Mail that some of their members experienced an error as well when they tried to playback titles when streaming from Netflix for an hour. The spokesperson also said that their engineers have now fixed the issue, and they apologize for the inconvenience.
