A brand new member of the recently birthed Rocket Lake family has just been spotted online. This time, it will be having an ultra-low powered variant known as the Core i9-11900T and would come with 8 cores as well as a 35W TDP. The chip will be known as the most power-efficient unit of the Rocket Lake SKU up to date.
Intel i9-11900T test ressults
The Rocket lake unit was spotted on Geekbench and the performance is actually quite surprising. However, the given results are still reportedly unverified and should still be taken with a pinch of salt.
According to Tom's Hardware, from what's shown on the Geekbench's spec sheet is the Core i9-11900T that features quite a low 1.51 GHz base frequency while it still maintains what's seen as a surprisingly high 4.9GHz maximum boost frequency. Although 35W might not sound like too much power, it still seems like the Rocket Lake cores are still powerful enough to run maybe 1 or 2 cores at a boost frequency that was typically found on some higher wattage SKUs.
Intel i9-11900T vs Ryzen 7 5800X
The results show that the 11900T has been able to get a score of 1717 points in what's seen as a single-thread test and a whopping 8349 points in a given multi-threaded score. The shown single-threaded score, in particular, is already quite impressive. In order to compare, the 11900T stomps on the (what's soon to be) previous gen, the Core i9-10900K with an impressive score of 1402 achieving a whopping 20%.
Switching over to what's seen as Intel's main competitor, AMD with its massive Ryzen 7 5800X has managed to get quite close to the 11900T along with the said AMD chip that is just slower by 2.5% achieving a score of 1674 points. However, in the multithreaded tests, the said 11900T's 35W TDP notably hampers the performance.

Intel Core i7-10700K performance
Comparing the Intel Core i7-10700K from the previous generation (and not to mention the 10900K) the said 10700K was able to achieve a 7% faster score in comparison to the 11900T. Compared to the Ryzen 7 5800K, the lead actually stretechs to a whopping 22% difference when it comes to performance.
Overall, the said Core i9-11900T is known as an impressive chip even if it is constrained to just 35W. It can reportedly outpace the very best Comet Lake-S chips when it comes to the single-threaded department and also get really close to the Comet Lake-S' very best 8 core CPU known as the 10700K in the given multithreaded tests.
This will also reportedly help expand the chip's own capabilities for certain users that would require just low powered CPUs. Typically, with certain lower wattage chips such as these, consumers can expect some major performance penalties. However, the i9-11900T could now legitimately make quite a good gaming CPU for the ultra-compact/portable gaming systems with its reportedly excellent single-threaded numbers.
