Because of their great performances, this two hardware became AMD's best CPU lineup to date. But, AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 desktop CPUs and X570 motherboards were found suffering from 3 doa to 8 DOA. Now, what is DOA? This term refers to "Dead on Arrival," which means that the three to eight units of each hardware were not functioning properly.

According to WCCF Tech's latest report, PowerGPU, a popular CP builder company, posted a tweet stating that the AMD Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 desktop CPUs and X570 motherboards are suffering from high DOA.

  • AMD Ryzen 5950x x50 units 8 doa
  • AMD Ryzen 5900x x50 units 4 doa
  • AMD Ryzen 5800x x100 units 4 doa
  • AMD Ryzen 5600x x120 units 3 doa

Hot Hardware reported that PowerGPU received 50 units each of the Ryzen 9 5950X and Ryzen 9 5900X, of which eight of the former were DOA.

This means that 12 out of 100 chips within the Ryzen 9 family are affected. Aside from this, the PC builder company also stated that it already received 100 units of Ryzen 7 5800X, which four of them were DOA.

On the other hand, the company also received 120 units of Ryzen 5 5600X. However, three of them were defective.

Is this a serious issue?

PowerGPU said that even some non-DOA chips sometimes have problems. This means that the current issue is not that unique. But, it is hard to conclude that this should not be taken seriously. The giant PC builder's tweet caught the attention of a prominent Twitter leaker, who said that PowerGPU is not the only one that faces issues with the latest Zen 3 desktop CPUs.

"Actually, in Korea, it was quite quiet about this issue. As I checked urgently, there have been frequent postings complaining of problems mainly on B550/X570 mobo in recent months," said @harukaze5719 via his official Twitter account.
