Disney+ servers are currently down and facing several error codes 83 and 401. This comes after a viral episode of Marvel Studios' "WandaVision" has aired, in what seems to be an overload on the streaming platform. Disney and its streaming service may not have been expecting this, as a massive load of people was tuned in to the new Marvel series.
It seems that "WandaVision" is a massive hit in the Disney+ streaming platform as various users have tuned into the program, Friday morning, particularly on its Episode 5 release which was about a cliffhanger in the storyline. Marvel fans are flooding Disney+, which still was not seeing a surge of users since its release, but changes with the arrival of the hit show.
A dose of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) was introduced in the streaming platform and this may be the mode to get their superhero comic vibes on, as major blockbuster films continue their hardships amidst the pandemic. Moreover, the COVID-19's lockdown restrictions have pushed the burden of Hollywood entertainment to streaming platforms Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and now, Disney+.
Disney+ Server Down: Error Code 83, 401
According to Down Detector's tweet (@downdetector), there has been a surge of reports that were sent on the platform, detailing that Disney+ servers were down and are issuing several error codes, name 83 and 401. These issues and problems prevent people from continuing to the homepage of Disney+ and watch their preferred series.
Users have also taken to Twitter to vent out about their problems with the streaming platform that prohibits them from accessing it and watching the latest release of the hit Marvel television series. The people of Twitter are coming together, with some reporting that their Disney+ streaming platforms were down since the day before the report.
The massive outage in the platform indicates that Disney+ was not yet expecting this kind of volume in the platform, as the streaming service is a niche specialty program for all things Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars. The Disney Company's March 2020-introduced platform is still at its early stages, with massive shows lined-up for its future releases.
Disney+ Should Upgrade its Servers Due to New Blockbuster Series
This would not be the first and only Marvel television series that would stream in the platform, as "WandaVision" would only be the first of the MCU's Phase 4 in streaming. The cinematic universe would also include "Falcon and The Winter Soldier," "Loki," and several unnamed series and wide-release films that would stream in Disney+.
With this first incident, Disney+ should be upgrading its servers to handle the load and volume of users in the platform, especially if it would plan a digital release of the MCU's films including "Black Widow," "The Eternals," etc., which are all slated for a 2021 release (and if it would follow "Mulan's" 2020 virtual release).
