Apple Logo on Back of iPhone Has a Hidden Function: Here's How to Use It

It's been months since Apple has released iOS 14 update, but there is one additional feature that many haven't discovered yet, until recently, which allows you to use the iconic Apple logo in the back of your device.

iPhone Apple Logo Secret Function

According to CreativeBloq, the Apple logo's secret function is tucked away in iOS 14's Accessibility settings and is known as the Back Tap feature.

Basically, the Back Tap feature allows iPhone users to access several functions, such as taking a screenshot, opening your phone's Control Center, turning the built-in flashlight on, and initiating any Siri shortcuts you have made--and all can be done by simply tapping the Apple logo on the back of the device two or three times.

Apple iPhone users can customize the Back Tap feature so you can put which features you like for the double tap and triple tap.

According to the report, the function should be available for iPhone 8 models and above, plus of course, the devices should be running on iOS 14 to unlock the feature.

But here's a catch: you don't exactly have to tap on the iPhone Apple logo.

How to Active the Back Tap Feature

The Back Tap would work wherever you decide to tap, as long as it's the back of the device, but since the logo is tucked away nicely, many have decided to make use of the new feature to make the logo much more useful than looking pretty.

Although the iOS 14 update was released in September, it seems like many iPhone users only recently knew of the feature, thanks to an Instagram video by user @tenilleserpa.

So, how do you activate the Back Tap feature on your own device?

First, open your iPhone's Settings app, then choose Accessibility > Touch > Back Tap.

After tapping on the feature, you will find a long list of options you can choose to customize the double and triple taps.

Discovering After Four Months of Release

According to Apple, the feature is "a simple and easy way to trigger convenient tasks for those with accessibility needs," according to the published features list for iOS 14, but since it's nicely hidden away in the "Even More" section, many were unable to find out about it.

Although the feature is made for those with accessibility needs, it has been a huge help for everyone.

Nevertheless, it sort of mystified Apple users why the company did not highlight the feature when they were just releasing the iOS 14 update, given that it's definitely one nice addition.

In related news, the tech giant has also released iOS 14.4 update, which they say is an important one, given that it patches three critical vulnerabilities they have found on iPhone devices, so they encourage everyone to update as soon as they can to avoid the active bug exploits.

The company did not give exact details as to what the vulnerabilities are aside from saying that they might have been exploited already, meaning be sure to update if you haven't already to avoid being a victim of cybercriminals who want to snoop around your device and steal important data.
