Google's latest features have been very impressive so far, including the image recognition technology as well as the real-time language translation feature that you can do with your smartphone. Recently, the Google Lens App is now allowing you to do translations without the need of an internet connection.
According to 9To5Google, the Google Lens app that is available on Android is now making it a lot easier for users by introducing offline platforms. Once you launch the Lens app, you will be able to access the Translate filter. From there, head over the "pairing" pill, then click "Select Language." Afterwards, look over to the "Tap to download" option that you can see just next to the language. It will bring you to the language pack from the cloud going to your device. At this point, it will allow the app to translate to the language. It does not matter if your phone or tablet is connected to a mobile or WiFi network or not, it can still translate the language for you.
How to Use Google Lens Translation Even While Offline
PC Mag highlights however, that in order for you to do this, you will have to free your device of storage. There should be enough storage available for your desired language pack. In order to know how much data you need, simply look at the Lens App. It will show you how much data a language pack needs, and at the same time how much storage you still have left on your device. With this, it is easy to identify if you can download the pack or not.
Most of the time, there is no need to worry about the language packs since they have relatively small storage. For instance, the Spanish language pack just carries a 45MB download memory.
Google Lens Offline Translation Feature Set to Roll Out Soon
This new update by Google certainly gives users peace of mind when going to places with unfamiliar language and cultures. Sometimes, not having a good network access is inevitable. With this new update, users can make it easier to communicate with other people without the language barrier. The app can ensure the user that the language translation feature can always be in use even without the convenience of having a secure internet connection or mobile data. You can download the language packs either at home or on the way even with the absence of valuable data and internet connection.
This new feature will be made available to the public soon. As 9To5Google notes, this Google Lens app for offline translations is already available on multiple devices that run beta releases and conduct beta testings. After this phase, it will be airing on air soon for all users.
