The official Nintendo eShop now continues to be still quite successful all throughout the years. This is partially thanks for the huge discount deals that the eShop offers on a regular basis. This allows gamers to get certain high-quality games at a really affordable rate. However, just as there are pretty awesome titles for players to all grab, there are still a few other bad apples that just spoil the whole bunch. The price has been adjusted and sellers won't be able to sell below $1.99

Cheap games to go?

According to an article by GameRant, a number of users have actually sent their complaints to Nintendo regarding the given poor quality of a number of games currently on their market. While they are known for their low prices, one could actually argue that the buyers get what they are paying for. However, there are still some games that hold supposedly little to no substance and even oftentimes come off as a scam.

Just for reference, a number of discounts have actually allowed games to be sold as less as $0.09 on the official Nintendo eShop around some extreme cases. The very reason behind this particularly low pricing is quite clear, according to the article. This reportedly looks quite like a stunt for them to intrigue consumers into purchasing the game. However, there still isn't any consistent evidence pointing towards financial gains coming from the stunt are indeed worthwhile.

Nintendo eShop new restrictions

Either way, it now looks like Nintendo has already decided to implement a certain fix toward this trend of the popular $1 games on the Nintendo eShop. Starting now, games will be prohibited to be sold at below a price of $1.99 on the official Nintendo eShop.

One of the many developers at the SMG Studio that is reportedly responsible for certain game titles like the Death Squared recently stated in the subreddit r/NintendoSwithDeals that according to the new official Nintendo eShop rules, no game will will be sold for as low as $1.99 but this was only after the company had announced a new release of its game that would cost just $0.99 for the given consumers.

eShop full of 'dubious games'

Another inclusion of these new rules that Nintendo is now making for its own eShop is that all of the games that would cost just a single cent won't be placed on Nintendo's best sellers list anymore. This would reportedly fix the current issue of poor quality penny games all flooding the sale market. As of the moment, Nintendo hasn't given a public commentary regarding the changes nor have they confirmed that these changes are in fact permanent.

An article by Polygon, notes that the company is blocking Switch games for its "extreme discounts." Which could be the selling point of certain games despite possibly having "lower quality" compared to other games on the market. The article noted that the eShop was "notoriously full of dubious games."
