With Parler out of the game as Amazon now refuses to support the website/application and Apple and Google both removing the app from the App Store and Play Store, there could be a need for an alternative application that hasn't been blocked yet. One of the alternative social media sites is Gab which pretty much functions quite like Parler.
Gab: Alternative to Parler
According to an article by NewsWeek, the official Amazon Web Services or AWS Trust and Safety has now reportedly told Parler's current CEO John Matza that they will stop hosting this particular social media site. In response to this particular removal, Matze then warned its own Parler users that the app will go offline for about a week and even stated that it would actually "rebuild from scratch."
Matze then stated that this was a certain coordinated attack that was done by tech giants in order to kill its competition in the current market place. He then noted that the app was "too successful too fast." In response to Parler closing down, a number of its users have reportedly started joining another social media platform called Gab.
What is Gab?
Gab was originally founded back in 2016 and like Parler, also prides itself on being a certain "free speech" platform that hosts almost no censorship rules. Gab also has a reportedly similar function and layout with another popular social media app, Twitter.
Gab has stated that it hosts its site on its very own servers and has also reported certain problems when it comes to coping with the ever increasing traffic. The site was first founded by a certain Andrew Torba.
Will Parler users join Gab?
This particular social media site has now seen a sharp rise in new users as well as visitors following the recent shutdown of Parler. Gab then tweeted out to its 223,000 Twitter followers that the site now has a whopping 500,000+ new users as well as 18 million visits. It was also stated that there is no need to set up an account in order for the site to be used. Due to Parler's removal, Gab has seen a whopping 753% increase in users according to a report by ZeroHedge.
Joe M shared his own Gab handle on Parler stating that they are now having a hard time coping up with the current traffic. This, however, people will be able to find him when Parler suddenly goes dark.
