As of the moment, Elon Musk is now worth $170 billion which meant his wealth has soared by $42 billion in only a little over a month! As of January 1st, just about 38 days from the last report, Elon Musk has started closing in on Jeff Bezos.
To properly understand how fast Elon Musk's wealth has grown, in those 38 days, he has earned a total of $48 billion. Even if the wealth was evenly distributed through 38 days, Elon Musk would have earned about $1.1 B a day! The first day of January 2021 even saw Elon Musk with a massive $2.47 billion surge according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Jeff Bezos, on the other hand, the richest man on earth as of the moment, owns only 10% of his company Amazon according to a report by Markets.BusinessInsider. The company, however, is valued at a whopping $1.7 trillion by BusinessInsider. The massive wealth of the company has been good to Jeff Bezos' 10% and although he owns less than Elon Musk, Amazon is about 3 times bigger than Tesla in total.

However, with Elon Musk owning more shares in Tesla, should the company outdo Amazon, Elon Musk's wealth would reportedly soar higher due to him owning more shares. As of the moment, it seems like the two are competing for the top spot with the third richest person in the world, the reigning Bill Gates, falls massively behind at $132 billion.
This means that although Bill Gates used to be the richest person in the world left unchallenged back in the day, he is now worth $38 billion less than Elon Musk who is at $170 billion. This also puts Bill Gates at a whopping $58 billion behind Jeff Bezos who is currently at the top spot but this might change in only a matter of time as Tesla and Elon Musk's performance have aggressively been growing.
