Free-speech apps have seen a surge in users this 2020. Parler and MeWe are two of the most popular social media sites recently, but also allegedly controversial apps in the market right now. The reason for its controversy is its open support of free-speech which allegedly results in the lack of filters with0 its content.
MeWe and Parler: Free-speech app 2020
Both Parler and MeWe are now the two leading apps competing against one another when it comes to free-speech as there has been a huge surge of users as of recent. Earlier this year, other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have all been tightening its misinformation, fact-checking, and filter system.
According to an article by Rolling Stone, both Facebook and Twitter have really increased their efforts to stop disinformation this 2020 which is a major reason why both Parler and MeWe has become an alternative with its loose efforts to stop disinformation. According to the article, both of these apps have seen a surge in users overtaking both TikTok and Zoom as the currently most-downloaded app on both Google Play and iTunes stores.
Parler VS MeWe
Last week, Parler got a massive 580,000 downloads worldwide. The majority of these downloads are in the United States. There is a roughly 353% increase in download rate as of last October according to a particular analyst called Apptopia to Rolling Stone. However, the surge in users also comes with the app reportedly glitching.
MeWe, although smaller, is also seeing a massive surge in downloads as it has recently gotten a total 130,000 downloads as of just last week with 100,000 of them all coming from them. The app has also received over 50,000 downloads in the US during a one-week period back in September.

How to Fix Not Working Parler or MeWe on Android
According to Google Support, there are a few ways to solve apps that are not working. However, this solution is only reportedly feasible for Android apps and not Apple apps. The solution is said to remedy apps that are crashing, aren't responding, aren't opening, and also aren't working properly.
First step
Restart the smartphone
Check if missing android updates
Update the app
If this segment works, the problem is not in the particular app but rather with the smartphone not being updated. This sometimes happens especially if the application is designed to run solely on the newer updated smartphone.
Second step
Force the app the stop
Clear the app's data and cache
Contact the developers
Uninstall the app
This solution could mean that the problem is actually bigger than it seems as it is with the app itself and is not with the smartphone's compatibility with the app. Should the solution be insufficient, it is better to contact either Parler or MeWe in order to get solid solutions as to how to make the app work.
