Being an astronaut does have its perks and takeaways and with Thanksgiving here, it's particularly interesting to discover just "what does an astronaut Thanksgiving (2020) look like?" Well, while a lot of people spend Thanksgiving with their families, for obvious reasons, the astronauts will have to spend this holiday onboard the International Space Station or ISS.
How do astronauts celebrate Thanksgiving
A story reported by Space shows exactly how these astronauts are celebrating Thanksgiving 2020. Since they are in space, they might not be able to experience the regular Thanksgiving meal ideas like what citizens on earth have. A new video, however, shows how five of the brave spacefarers that are living on the ISS are celebrating this celebrated American holiday.
Of course, Thanksgiving won't be complete without turkey which is why the astronaut's celebration included curry rice, cornbread dressing, and the famous smoked turkey. The video was published on November 23 and uploaded by NASA Johnson Space Center's official Twitter account and it shows NASA astronaut Kate Rubins making her first ever appearance within the video.

Rubins previously reached the ISS aboard the three-hour Soyuz journey along with the Russian cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergey Ryzhikov (which however did not appear in the video). Aside from the recent Thanksgiving celebration, Rubins also took part in yet another American custom where she voted in the 2020 presidential elections from space!
The four different astronauts that spoke after Rubins in the given video are the known NASA astronauts Shannon Walker, Victor Glover and Mike Hopkins as well as the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency or JAXA astronaut called Soichi Noguchi. They all arrived on the given space station back on November 16 which was an approximate of 27 hours after they had launched from the SpaceX and NASA mission known as the first Crew-1.

Thanksgiving in space
The space crew had also explained just how truly "out-of-this-world" was their festivity stating that they were zooming above the planet at a massive 17,500 miles per hour but they are still able to celebrate Thanksgiving. Hopkins then gave their greetings coming from 250 miles above.
Noguchi gave his remarks stating that where they were was the "highest party room on Earth" while holding a whole handful of different food pouches. Aside from the red bean rice and curry rice packages, Noguchi also held up a familiar container of seafood and stated that it was prepared on Earth by a Japanese high school student.
Noguchi has also acknowledged the complete hardships that had been experienced this year worldwide which, according to Space, could be a nod to the whole coronavirus pandemic. The pace crew then mentioned that they will all be making calls directly to their own loved ones on Earth for the special holiday. Walker then added that they were all going to "have a wonderful meal."
