'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' Cross-Platform Players Lose Achievements and Trophies Even After Saving in Cloud

"Assassin's Creed Valhalla" cross-platform players are experiencing issues with achievements and trophies in both PlayStation and Xbox. While it is not yet clear where achievement-killing bugs originated, other bugs are linked to cross-platform saves.

After announcing in October that it would combine its Uplay and Ubisoft Club services into one free service called Ubisoft Connect, the developer has completely launched its cross-progression and cross-play service with "Assassin's Creed Valhalla's" arrival, which broke boundaries across all platforms.

'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' Cross-Platform Saves Issues

While cross-progression is no longer new as "Minecraft" and "Fortnite" have already went far and beyond single gaming ecosystem for a period of time already. However, it is usually limited to games that involve multiplayer elements.

Thus, Ubisoft's cross-progression implementation is uncommon because it also allows players to resume their saves in any allowed platform for single-player game like "Assassin's Creed Valhalla."

However, numerous players reported to have problems with unlocking achievements on Xbox as seen in a Reddit thread. These cases seem to be unrelated to cross-platform saving. After a standard game, there should be many achievements that unlocked already, but players complained that there are zero achievements showing on their accounts.

Lucy James of GameSpot has picked up an achievement bug, which appears to have resulted from swapping between the game's PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions. Although cross-saves are developed to keep the achievements and related progress between platforms, it seems has caused cross-saves to eventually stopped the achievement system completed.

Meanwhile, other players also complained about their achievement counters, which obliged players to complete numerous tasks. They said the counters froze after they have already completed more than the required number of tasks.

Surprisingly though, another feature of the game has shocked players who were transitioning from PS4 to PS5 as trophies were not transferable PS5, despite save data can be kept in between platforms.

This serves as a warning for those who have just received their next-gen consoles or those who are still waiting for a pre-ordered unit because this means they would need to return to the game and play it again. While it was quite frustrating, it is not a bug, but an intended feature.

'Assassin's Creed Valhalla': How Cross-Platform Progression Works?

With 'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' cross-progression feature, players can carry their progress throughout the game, even after playing on different platforms.

After the game is automatically saved or if players created a manual save, the latest saved game will be uploaded to the cloud storage and overwrite the previously saved file on cloud. However, we recommend create a manual save after each session just to make sure the progress has been properly uploaded to cloud storage. Wait until the save animation has been completed.

Then, open the Main menu and select Quit to Title Screen. Choose Load Game and check if the saved data has a cloud icon. When playing the game on another platform, it will load the most recent saved game from cloud storage, so players can pick up the game from where they stopped the last time.

Meanwhile, players would need to have separate accounts linked to Ubisoft account to make this feature work.
