Elon Musk: International Space Station Needs to Deorbit ASAP
According to the latest post by Musk, the time for preparations for the deorbiting is about to begin, referencing the SpaceX contract that tasked them to deorbit the ISS.
According to Musk, the ISS has already "served its purpose," with the famed space station first launching in 1998. This means that the ISS is in service for nearly three decades now.
Furthermore, the tech billionaire also claimed that there is now "very little incremental utility" with the ISS, with SpaceX known for frequenting the space station to deliver supplies and transport astronauts to and from the Earth.
Mars Plans for Elon Musk and SpaceX Continue
As a closer to Musk's post, he is inviting the world to go to Mars, and it is something that the executive has long campaigned for.
Currently, SpaceX is awaiting its next test flight for the Starship rocket following the Ship's explosion, with it still struggling to be consistent when it comes to returning to the ground intact.
SpaceX, Elon Musk, and the Red Planet
Back in 2022, Musk shared a wild claim to his followers on Twitter (now X), claiming that 2029 will be a massive year for humanity. The tech CEO predicted that humans will be able to reach Mars four years from now.
Still, the goal for SpaceX is to build a colony on Mars with the world's richest man serving as the first-ever emperor of the neighboring planet. Musk also plans to build over 1,000 units of the Starship rocket to be used in the future for frequent flights to Mars.
The plans for Musk and SpaceX are to reach Mars by the end of this decade or the start of the next.
