The tech giant company collaborated with Designworks, and Peter Salzmann, a professional skydiver, and base jumper, to design and test the new technology.

According to Slash Gear's latest report, the new wingsuit increases the speed and flying time for the individual wearing it. Salzmann is the first skydiver to try and test the electrified wingsuit, which was captured in an elaborately staged video documentation.

The astonishing short film revealed that BMW eDrive technology doesn't only enhance the mobility experience of people on the road, but also in the skies.

BMW's Electrified Wingsuit model

The company's latest technology uses a flying unit with two encased carbon impellers. These features can deliver a whopping 7.5 kW output each. They can also spin at about 25,000 RPM for a total of 15 kW output.

An individual can use it for five minutes. BMW's electrified wingsuit has energy storage and an electrified drive system integrated into the front. Meanwhile, Salzmann was able to fly at up to 300 km/h, thanks to the wingsuit's high-tech propulsion units.

BMW explained that developing that new technology took around three years of work with the Australian professional skydiver and the design team.

BMW i's #NEXTGen 2020

The short film showcasing the new wingsuit will be played at the company's #NEXTGen 2020. The event will also show how the BMW Group will have a variety of ways to change the global automotive sector.

Once the event took place, BMW is expected to announce its commitments and initiatives. BMW Group will also present the latest products, together with vehicle concepts and innovative technological developments.

As of the moment, BMW's new wingsuit is still under development. Only one person was able to test the new technology. Just keep your tabs open until BMW makes further announcements.
