Martian smartwatches are really smart - they obey voice commands

Smartwatches have been around for a while now but disappointing sales in 2013 may have kept this type of wearable technology from taking off. However, many analysts agree that this may change in the year 2014 when smartwatch sales are expected to go up by as much as 500 percent. While there are a number of large companies seeking to jump on the smartwatch bandwagon, there are also numerous smaller companies seeking to get a leg up on the competition. The Martian Notifier smartwatch, which has been unveiled at the 2014 International CES, is one of the smaller players in the game but offers a number of interesting features that threatens to upstage its bigger rivals.

Unlike other smartwatches that promise a slew of different features, the Martian Notifier is different in that it places a large degree of focus to the notifications themselves. This smartwatch looks like a normal watch at first glance, especially with its analog watch face. A very smart move. The smartwatch also comes with a small OLED screen at the bottom half of the watch face. The little screen has a side scrolling function to display notifications from a paired mobile device. It also comes in a number of attractive colors and with a price point of $129.99, it seems like a pretty good deal.

The Martian Notifier can be used with both iOS and Android devices and can be managed using a downloadable app. This allows users to view notifications such as incoming messages, incoming calls, weather, social media updates, emails and a wide variety of other updates right on their wrists. While these notifications are useful, these features can also be found in other competing smart watches. What makes the Martian Notifier smartwatch unique, however, is its voice-activated features. With simple voice commands such as "read text," Martian Notifier users can make their smartphones display a new message on the smartwatch's OLED screen.

The Martian Notifier uses Bluetooth 4.0 technology, which means that the devices uses less battery power compared to older smartwatches. Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity also ensures a more stable connection with less frequent dropouts.
