Intel recently launched its Iris XE Max dedicated GPU for specific models of Acer, Asus, and Dell portable and light laptops.

After teasing the release of its own dedicated laptop graphic chips back in October, Intel finally put an end to the waiting. The company officially announced the launch of the first laptops to use the Iris XE Max discreet GPU, the graphic tied to the recently announced 11th-gen processors using the same Xe-LP graphics architecture.

According to SlashGear, the first laptop forms to come out with Intel's latest technology are Dell's Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 and ASUS VivoBook Flip TP470. Joining the team is the recently revealed Acer Swift 3X.

Dell's hybrid is currently available for purchase at Best Buy in the U.S. Acer will have to wait until December to launch in the said country although yet it is now out in China along with the Inspiron through JD.com.

Intel said that the Iris XE Max powered Asus Vivobook will launch in both the U.S. and China markets sometimes soon.

What to Expect with the Intel Iris XE Max powered laptops

The company assured gamers with a great 1080p gaming experience. The promise goes out to the avid players of titles such as Metro Exodus and Hitman 2 although it does not give false assurance of beating the performances of beefier graphics.

Intel added that Dota showed a slightly better performance on laptops running with built-in Iris XE than on those devices powered by NVIDIA MX350.

Aside from better gaming performance, Intel brings in the new Deep Link tech advantage on the scene that comes up to the performance that usually requires a desktop video card.

This offers a single software framework to maximize the performance of both the CPU and the GPU. The said technology allows the software to split tasks between the Iris XE Max and Intel's integrated GPU on Tiger Lake-based devices.

Intel claimed that the partnership of Tiger Lake systems and Iris XE Max provides up to seven times better AI-based creation as compared to other laptops operating with third party graphic cards. This is because this technology is aimed at creatives and goes beyond the real-time graphics rendering and speed yet focuses on media encoding and AI-based creation.

What Intel has to say

In a statement, Roger Chandler, Intel vice president, and general manager of Client XPU Product and Solutions said that they set out the role of discrete graphics in thin-and-light laptops and that they intend to cater to the increasing segment of portability-seeking creators, according to The Verge.

The Iris XE Max is Intel's solution to the low-end GPU's that portable laptops often come along with. CPU laptops are not usually optimized when combined with a third party GPU.

Intel saw that dilemma and came up with the solution of creating both the CPU and the GPU for thin and light laptops. Being the creator of both, the company is able to make the most of the performance of each and make them come out together to resulting in better results than that of a third-party combo.
