Mega Evolution has been quite a big deal in the world of Pokemon GO, which basically allows players to Mega Evolve certain Pokemon's final evolutions such as Charizard, Blastoise, and Venusaur.
Mega Buddy Challenge
As part of the celebration, Niantic Labs has created the Mega Buddy event. Part of its is the Mega Buddy Challenge--a timed research quest that begins today, Sept. 22, requiring you to interact more with your Buddy, so see a lot of tasks that require walking them, gaining hearts, and giving them treats.
As with previous timed tasks, you have to complete every single mission before the deadline, which is on Monday, Sept. 28, at 10:00 p.m.
But more than that, completing all the challenges will unlock the release of Mega Gengar in time for the Halloween season, as per Eurogamer.
With that, here are the tasks every Pokemon GO player would have to complete as well as the rewards you can get for completing each set of tasks, as well as each individual mission:
Step 1

How to Complete Tasks
Completing these tasks is relatively simple, and you can easily finish them even when you're at home by using an Incense or Lure to attract and catch more Pokemon.
It's also best to change a Buddy that only requires 1 kilometer of walking to acquire a Candy such as Jigglypuff, Weedle, Caterpie, Wurmple, Hoothoot, Slugma, Zigzagoon, Wailmer, and more--and you can easily accomplish the 1-kilometer walk that even when you're at home by enabling the Adventure Sync on your Pokemon GO app.
Spawn Increases
Besides the timed research tasks, there are also spawn increases, including some monsters with their Shiny versions.
Here's the list of Pokemon that will spawn more during the event, according to Dot Esports:
- Alolan Exeggutor (with Shiny)
- Arbok
- Doduo (with Shiny)
- Dunsparce (with Shiny)
- Furret
- Hariyama
- Hitmonchan
- Hitmonlee
- Jynx
- Lapras (with Shiny)
- Mantine
- Onix (with Shiny)
- Pinsir (with Shiny)
- Skarmory (with Shiny)
- Snorlax
- Wailmer (with Shiny)
- Wobbuffet (with Shiny)
If you're looking to evolve some of your Pokemon such as Wailmer and Onix, or if you want to earn ore Candies to power up your monsters on the list, now's a good time to use some Incense or Lure Modules to catch 'em all.
