[Leak] Tesla's Battery Day Will Unveil New Tabless In-House Cell "Roadrunner" With 1M Miles/4000 Charge Cycle Capacity

Elon Musk's hyped up Battery Day is finally coming up and rumor has it that the battery day will introduce to the world a new technology that will supposedly shift people from the use of petrol cars to electric.

Tesla's brand new "Roadrunner" line has finally emerged. If the leak actually proves legitimate, it would then appear that the upcoming Battery Day will meet more than just expectations but as Elon Musk describes on Twitter, it would even be "insane".

What do we know about battery day?

Electrek originally reported the leak detailing massive battery cells that were allegedly supposedly a new product for the Roadrunner line. The whole publication then noted that the evidence was actually sent through a certain anonymous source and have confirmed it by yet another independent source.

It is quite evident that the known cell is massive and is much closer in size to the supercapacitor compared to a traditional battery cell. The initial observations made by certain battery enthusiasts online have also been pointing to some really sweet improvements that the upcoming cell design would actually bring to the table.

The leak by a battery enthusiast

Although Electrek's main sources have previously mentioned that the upcoming Roadrunner cell will actually feature some roughly twice the diameter of the known 2170 cells that Tesla has currently been using in both the Model Y and the Model 3, a certain Tesla enthusiast known as @_BRCooper details more.

As noted by a certain Jordan Giesige from The Limiting Factor channel that is big on YouTube, adopting this new 54x98 form factor for Tesla's next-generation cells will result in huge implications for the whole battery manufacturing process as well as the performance of all of the Tesla vehicles in general.

With these much larger cells, it was said that Tesla could actually produce additional battery packs that actually have an order of about a magnitude much fewer cells in comparison to before. This would then result in the company actually only using about 1/10th of the number of rolls, electrolyte fills, cans, and also welds in comparison to the current ones being used.

What could the future of electric cars be like?

This strategy then opens doors towards massive pathways to cost reduction that could potentially help reduce the total prices of the electric cars to a certain notable degree. This is why Battery Day is such a big deal not just for Elon Musk or Tesla but also the car industry in general.

Currently, Electric Cars are still a bit more expensive at face value in comparison to certain petrol cars but with the new technology on batteries, everything can change! Are you ready to see the next big thing not just in the world of batteries or electric vehicles but for cars in general?
