In a recent video on YouTube, these individuals gave their two cents on what they think when it comes to college degrees, success and etc.

Is college really needed?

Elon Musk, Tesla CEO, has been very vocal about his opposing stand when it comes to going to college. Elon Musk is one of the most brilliant tech names being CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and even Neuralink. Elon Musk was elaborate about explaining that the greats like Steve Jobs did not actually have a college degree but if he was given an opportunity to hire them, he definitely would.

Warren Buffet, on the other hand, said that he was actually a mischievous student and an early investor. He stated that back in the day, he would ask his teachers which stocks they would invest in and short them if he saw it was a good move then, later on, show them that they were wrong. This was even before Warren Buffet went to college.

Kevin O'Leary went to college but expressed his sentiments by saying that it was not really needed. He actually wanted to be a film-maker back in the day and despite graduating, he noted that he did not really need his degree.

The misconception of college

The video indicated that most people look at college as insurance rather than an actual learning experience saying most people come into college with an expectation that they will make it in life with a college degree but in reality, it really depends on the course of actions you take and how you navigate through life.

Elon Musk, on the other hand, says that he does not really look at a person's college degree when he hires but rather what they are able to accomplish with their given set of skills and what they can contribute to his companies.

Warren Buffett, the master trader, did not really learn his love for numbers from school. He reportedly kept on reading almanacs when he was young and numbers have always fascinated him. Due to this, he's able to digest bigger chunks of data and create investment decisions based on these judgments.

Should you go to college?

Going to college is a good way to get a more traditional form of education but if learning is your main priority since everything is already available on the internet, you might want to save on the thousands of dollars commitment and learn the specific skillset on your own. This all really depends on what your goal in college is and what you are trying to learn. Some courses are better taught through schools like medicine and etc. while other courses could be learned on your own.
