Reddit captures a viral CCTV footage of a traffic scene back in 2019 that was recently released, showing a car waiting for its turn in the traffic light spontaneously catching fire under its hood when a fire truck passes by. A Redditor shares how lucky the people in the car was when the unfortunate incident happened.
Social news aggregator and forums website, Reddit, sees another viral video of an odd occurrence in the street. This time, a Reddit user shares a closed-circuit television video of a car followed by a fire truck waiting for its time to turn.
Reddit community r/Unexpected contained the video posted by Redditor u/Thelastbeast180, showing the unfortunate incident with its fair share of good luck. The video shows how fast an unfortunate incident can be averted if the response of safety officers, in this case, fire and the fire department, are just in time to prevent massive effects.
The video is entitled "What are the chances!!" and has received over 57,400 upvotes from the Reddit community.
Serendipitous Moment for Burning Car and Fire Truck
The video shows three vehicles waiting at a corner to turn towards the other side of the intersection. The first vehicle is a water or oil tanker that successfully made its turn while tailed by a white car. The white car seems to be hesitating or experiencing problems with moving and is stuck on the corner.

The fire truck overtook the vehicle and attempted to go ahead, leaving behind the car stuck in the corner. However, just before the truck continued to cross the intersection, the white car spontaneously caught up in flames on its front end, with fire and smoke coming from its hood and front tires.
The driver and passenger exited the car and maintained a safe distance away from the burning vehicle.
The fire officers and respondents aboard the truck immediately jumped down and sprang into action, much like a scene from an action movie. The fire in the car's hood was extinguished with water and is gone in under a minute.
Fortunately for the victims, there is a fire truck tailing them at the right place and time.
Reddit's reactions
The Redditors following the post looked and picked on the incident with a comical approach and joked about it. u/furaboi stated that while some bring personal chefs, trainers, or a personal plane, the people in the white car seem to have brought their very own personal firefighters.
One Redditor even argued that a personal street cam was brought to record the whole unfortunate incident.
Practice Road Safety and Be Vigilant
While Redditors make comical approaches regarding this incident, this viral video is a reminder for all to practice road safety and preventive measures to minimize the risk to one's life. According to the US Fire Administration, 171,500 highway fires occur each year.
The majority of these fires came from internal problems such as the engine, gears, and wheel area that has claimed over 345 deaths and $1.1 billion property loss annually.
This video serves as a reminder for everyone to double-check their vehicles before embarking on a trip to ensure the driver and passengers' safety and other cars who share the road.
