We have all heard that men get better with age, but literary icon Joan Didion is proving that older women are just as flawless. The 80-year-old author is the new face for the French fashion brand Céline.
Wearing signature oversized sunglasses and sporting a stylish bob haircut along with a slight smirk, Didion's ad will certainly make bookworms and fashionistas alike happy.
Known best for her essay collection Slouching Towards Bethlehem published in 1968, and for her 2005 memoir The Year of Magical Thinking, Didion has made turning 80 look effortlessly cool.
While being arguably one of the greatest living writers, Didion who is typically reclusive has been making lots of headlines. Last year, President Obama awarded Didion with the 2012 National Humanities Medal. More recently, a documentary about her life called We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live, which stars her nephew Griffin Dunne, received over twice the funding it aimed to raise on Kickstarter.
So let's celebrate the merging of high-fashion and great literary talent with a clip from We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live.
