It's official -- Marvel's Daredevil television series will land exclusively on Netflix in its entirety on April 10. Netflix broke the news at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour earlier today.
Netflix and Marvel also released a truly badass motion poster for the show, which you can see below.
The image of the burning Daredevil logo is enough to send any comic fan over the moon. Showrunners have previously said the show is inspired by Frank Miller's legendary work on the character, which means it is sure to be a down-to-Earth, gritty take on the world of the costumed hero. Below is the show's official synopsis. It is light on details, but it seems a safe bet to assume some of Daredevil's classic villains like Kingpin and Bullseye will be making appearance.
Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the Super Hero "Daredevil" in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City. Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, with executive producers Steven S. DeKnight (Spartacus), Jeph Loeb (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Drew Goddard (Cabin In The Woods), the series also stars Rosario Dawson, Vincent D'Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.
Beyond the synopsis and poster, not much is about the show is known. Only one teaser image has been released and the show has yet to receive a trailer. That will change in the next few months as the premiere of the show gets close. A lot is riding on Daredevil's success. After all, it is serving as the building block for multiple Marvel-based shows starring characters like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage coming exclusively to Netflix in the future. Let's hope it can finally wash out the bad taste left by the Daredevil film.
