Marvel probably thinks it's being terribly cute with this one, but we don't hear anyone laughing. Today, the superhero movie studio posted a "teaser for a trailer" for Ant-Man.
A "teaser for a trailer" is already a pretty ridiculous concept, but this Ant-Man teaser takes things to new extremes of obnoxiousness. It's basically 18 seconds of microscopic film footage.
Get it? It's an ant-sized teaser for Ant-Man.
Yes, the House of "Ideas" actually went there. The end of the clip promises that the "human-sized" trailer will debut on the series premiere of Marvel's Agent Carter, on January 6 on ABC.
The film is scheduled to be Marvel's first Phase 3 release, following Avengers: Age of Ultron by less than three months. By now, the story of its production is old-hat: Edgar Wright was originally going to direct it, he bailed due to creative differences with Marvel, Peyton Reed took over, yadda yadda yadda. Needless to say, Marvel fans have been eager to get their first look at footage from the movie.
Ant-Man, starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Evangeline Lilly, arrives in theaters July 17, 2015.
