There is a new trending video on the Chinese-based video-sharing platform, TikTok. It's a video of a TikTok user, Emily Sophie, who was standing in between two words, 'Green Needle' and 'Brainstorm.' She then posted on the video that the audience will only hear the word that they're reading. It turns out not all people hear either words or hear one word at a time they're reading. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new 'Laurel' and 'Yanny' video in the house.
'Green Needle' and 'Brainstorm'
Remember the 'Laurel' or 'Yanny' trending video? That video went viral all over the world with its distinct challenge. Which word do you hear, is it 'Laurel,' or 'Yanny'?
Maybe you've already moved on from that. But, here comes news. Another video on TikTok is now spreading online due to the same challenge. Which word do you hear, 'Green Needle,' or 'Brainstorm'?
Many of us seemed to be hearing more of 'green needle,' than 'brainstorm.' However, there is also a huge population of listeners who only hear the word 'brainstorm' on the video. So, which one is the right word?
According to Today News, the original clip of the audio was uploaded in 2012. But TikTok user Emily Sophie only made it more popular today.
The said audio of 'Green Needle,' or 'Brainstorm' came from a toy review from the kid's show Ben 10 Alien Force. Since Ben's character is filled with different types of aliens, it was no longer surprising that the sound of the toy has a bit of a robot-sounding taste on it.
As reported first via The Telegraph, the toy creator said that only one from 'Green Needle,' and 'Brainstorm,' was the right answer for the video riddle. Sorry to burst your bubble 'Green Needle' listeners, the right answer was 'Brainstorm.'
Why do we hear different words?
According to Daily Mail UK via Huffington Post, the expert believes that the human brain has a tendency to 'latch on' to different sounds.
"The reason that a person can see their perception switch without explanation may also mean that our ears and brain have latched on to the other acoustic pattern than the one they were previously latching on to," as explained by University College London Professor Valerie Hazan.
Though it is now confirmed that the word 'Brainstorm' is the one the audio was saying, a lot of people can't still hear the word 'brainstorm' in the video.
