Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, a lot of businesses turn their prices way down to still make a profit out of the crisis. And that's what Elon Musk plans to do in the upcoming days.
On Wednesday, May 27, Tesla announced on its website that most of their in-demand vehicles, available in North America and China will soon have lower prices compared to the original.
The price cut happened as the company ramps up their car production at its recently reopened Fremont, California branch.
Reuters reported that it was not yet clear on when the price cut will start to take effect or by how much would be the new total discounted prices of the selected electric vehicles.
However, if you check the prices now on the company's website, the Model S sedans will be priced from $81,000 to $79,990. Model X sport vehicles that normally priced at $86,000 are now for sale at $84,990. The cheapest Model 3 sedan that can now be availed at the store, varies its prices at $37,990, from its original amount of $41,000.
As also mentioned, China-based Tesla stores will also soon introduced cut on its prices, specifically for Model S and Model X. However, prices for locally-made Model 3 vehicles will stay on its prices.
Tesla's controversy on reopening stores
Musk, the CEO of Tesla, faced a controversy involving his stand in the reopening of stores nationwide.
Since everyone is required to stay in their homes for the safety of not spreading out the virus, governments also closed down all establishments and businesses that are not classified as essentials.
One of these businesses is car stores or car factories. Due to this, Musk defies the orders from the state and demands to be arrested for his plan to restart the production of his Tesla branch in California.
Unexpectedly, he fought his way against the local officials from the state and had finally allowed his factory to rerun operations. Of course, it will not be the same as how it was back then. The rules for social distancing, proper washing of hands, and the wearing of masks are highly promoted inside the production units.
