Nioh 2 Guide: Tips to Help You Survive the Game Longer; Plus Learn How to Play Co-Op!

Team Ninja's Nioh 2 brings the fast-paced action from its predecessor...so fast that sometimes you won't know what hit you, and the next thing you know is you're dead again and again. It's inevitable.

Compared to the first game, Nioh 2 has a more complex combat system, and it's not surprising to scramble your way to mastering everything enough to avoid dying every two minutes, regardless of whether you're a master at the first game.

With that, we've compiled some tips to help you survive the game much longer and to beat it inevitably. Plus, learn how to co-op multiplayer with your friends.

Master the Ki Pulse

Ki Pulses are back, but it's different in Nioh 2 compared to the first game, specifically with how fast it replenishes.

While you level up, it will speed up more, but you now have to start stacking up your Courage stat, which is new to the game, as it can affect how fast your stamina will replenish, so make sure to allocate enough points for both Courage and Heart.

For new fans, the Ki Pulse is perhaps an essential element of the game.

A Ki Pulse restores some of the Ki you have spent during the battle, and it's extremely important to time it right to restore more Ki. Once a blue light gathers around your character, which happens after an attack, press the R1 button.

Besides restoring your Ki, Ki Pulses can also purify Yokai Realms.

Among the most important skills, you need to learn fast from the Samurai Skill tree are the Running Water Ki Pulse techniques, which could help you if you have trouble mastering the traditional Ki Pulse.

Beating Yokai

Yokai or the little monsters that litter the world of Nioh 2 are your main enemies.

There are different types, but the first one you'll encounter, according to GamesRadar, is the Gaki, seemingly harmless little monsters that you can easily slay.

They can be defeated rather quickly, and you should since they can gain in strength or grow unique abilities depending on their moves, like getting bigger and stronger if they eat a bigger yokai.

So, once you see one, make sure you defeat it quickly before it gets harder to kill.

After defeating the Gaki, you'll encounter your first big Yokai, the Gozuki--probably the stage where you'll die several times, especially if you haven't mastered your skills and the combat system, yet.

So, what do you do?

Skip it. You can hug the wall on the right and run to the area, which should help you escape to a different route.

Play with Friends

Another new thing with Nioh 2 is the cooperative multiplayer mode that allows players to team up with friends or with random players, something that fans seem to love, as per GameRant.

To access the co-op mode, go to the Mission Select screen first, then go to the mission's Starting Point, and then choose the Torii Gate. You'll be asked to select from Random and Expeditions, with the latter bringing you to the multiplayer mode.

After that, you can choose from Quick Match or Custom Match, which should be self-explanatory.
