Nioh 2 is finally here, and if you've gotten your hands on it, we've compiled a few tips and tricks to help you get through the game, including how you're supposed to interact with the evil purple Kodamas throughout the game and how to beat your first boss battle.
Cute Little Evil Purple Kodamas
Besides the adorable green Kodamas hidden in the game levels of Nioh 2, you'll encounter its evil and menacing--and yet still friendly evil twin: a purple Kodama, or more officially known as a Sudama.
Once you encounter this little monster, a prompt that says, "It seems to want something," will appear, and many aren't sure how to continue.
Tip number one: don't attack them, use Ki pulses, or throw anything at them, and instead, trade something off your inventory, as per VG247.
Open your inventory and press the Triangle button to drop one.
The little monster will pick it up and will offer you something of the same rarity and level, and apparently, these purple guys love shiny objects so that you can offer them a piece of armor, soul core, weapon, or a consumable.
If you drop it a weapon or a piece of armor, it typically trades it for something different but with the same level and rarity, so it's an excellent way to get rid of some stuff you don't want.
First Boss Fight
As you push through the first few hours of Nioh 2, you'll be met with your first boss battle: a face-to-face with Mezuki, a demon with the head of a horse and the boss from the Village of Cursed Blossoms mission.
To beat Mezuki, your character should at least be a level 8, and that you've mastered Nioh 2's mechanics and systems for a better fighting chance.
Mezuki is equipped with a giant weapon and does sweeping motions to hit its enemies and deal quite a lot of damage, so what you should do is avoid these attacks and jump in at the right moment to do a series of attacks, then evade.
Do this for quite a while until you're able to do a Burst Counter as the demon glows red, which means it's preparing for a big attack.
If you successfully do the counter, you'll be able to deal bigger damage, plus Mezuki will stagger for a bit, so you can use this moment to throw everything you've got, including a Heaven attack that lets you dodge an enemy and perform a Ki pulse at the same time.

At some point, expect Mezuki to use Dark Realm, which will cover the entire arena and will cause your stamina to restore slower.
Just be cautious and go back to your first strategy as Mezuki's attacks will remain the same, up until the last third of its health, where it will shoot spirits at you from a distance. Evade them by moving side to side, and go back to attacking when there's an opening until you've killed your first Nioh 2 boss.
Nioh 2 is out now and is available to play on PS4, while it will be available in November for PC.
