Goodbye John Legend? Google Assistant Lets Go of Its Most Legendary's Voice

If you've gotten used to having John Legend (or his voice, at least) around as your Google Assistant, be prepared for a loss. Google has announced that it'll stop the celeb cameo voice on March 23.

Google delivered the singer's voice to its list of available Google Assistant voices at Google I/O April last year. The tech company previously said John Legend would only stay for a limited time. Still, the corporation did not say how long it could stay.

So in just less than a year, the first movie star voice on Google Assistant will be gone. It's a good reminder that, as Google warned from the start, these cameos are not permanent.

It's a damn shame, because Android users have come to love the All Of Me singer responding to their every whim with the one's sweet tones. It became even possible to get him to sing Happy Birthday to us. How are we able to ever go again now?

John Legend's Legend is nearly over? For real?

Google delivered the sad news through a tweet on Thursday, informing us that the Legendary-run is nearly over, and with it, our love affair with the Google Assistant.

"#HeyGoogle, serenade me one more time. Enjoy @JohnLegend's cameo Google Assistant voice before it [ends] on March 23," the organization wrote on Twitter.

Why is it only for a restricted time? Only Google, which introduced the voice in Google I/O closing end knows the answer to that. But it's probably something to do with them only paying Legend for a year of his services.

The keynote will now be an online best affair because of the fears over the coronavirus. Still, one truly wouldn't be surprised to see Google upload to its movie star voice repertoire. For now, some are probably tempted to provide Alexa's clear Samuel L. Jackson voice a spin.

John Legend's cameo got here with its personal set of personality-precise Easter eggs. You'll get him crooning if you ask him to sing you "Happy Birthday" or in case you ask approximately Chrissy Teigen, his equally famous wife.

For now, in case you really need a celeb voice as your Google Assistant over the standard selections, Google will maintain to offer comedian Issa Rae as an option. But don't get attached to it because she would still be axed from Google Assistant sometime shortly as well.

Whether you'll miss the Legendary voice or not --- or you'll enjoy Issa's company --- the good news is that Google will still do everything it used to do. Google Assistant can now read Internet posts out loud just with a more robotic voice.

Android users are now capable of asking Google Assistant to read out the posts on their internet browser by saying, "Hey Google, browse it," or "Hey Google, browse this webpage." It's a handy characteristic for individuals who consume the bulk in their articles on the web.

Google additionally claims the browser will scroll the page for you and highlight words as they have been read to will let you follow along. Further, maximum users might be authorized to choose between specific scanning rates and listeners.
