Okay, I'm sure you're aware that human interaction, especially physical interaction, is widespread with our species. All cultures have their greeting, and it's almost always the kiss to the cheek, the hug, the hand touching, shoulder pat, or what have you--it varies into the level of comfortability of the person, of course. Still, in general, it's always been that way for human beings to be able to "connect."
Sad news now is that with the rise of a deadly virus, namely the novel coronavirus or coronavirus or the newly coined term COVID-19. People should be wary of physical contact or at least rethink the importance of self-love as not to need physical interaction as much as possible until the cure is found.
Here are some ways to still greet someone without extending your arm or opening yourself up to potential illness, not saying that you or your friends and family are sick, of course.
Saying Hello
This is as easy as it gets, a simple "hello" or "hi" should suffice. No need to come closer, and you can even do it from 30-feet away if the person knows that the greeting is for them. Simple, easy to do, and, most importantly, no contact!
Waving
Another easy one with minimal effort involved, wave to your fellow human being, and that should do it for you. You may or may not need to approach the person and talk more, but don't say we didn't warn you that you might get sick because of that, though.
Live long and Prosper Sign(Star Trek)
Not everyone might be a Star Trek fan. However, this can also pass as a greeting to people, especially if you want to show off your intellectual self that you have mastered the language of the Klingons and are ready to be beamed up! You know how to do that. I'm sure you do because you follow Techtimes.

So if you're not into the live long and prosper sign, how about we go back to basic and settle for just the regular old piece sign that many boomers are doing nowadays. This might not apply to the older audience, but if you're one of them, then right on you. Age is just a number anyway.
Tipping Your Hat
Time to go way way back for this one. Fun fact, this was popularized in the medieval century as a sign of respect to the people of higher status than them besides bowing, of course. This is now still a common thing to do, and people tend to gravitate to it more as well as a sign of respect and acknowledgment to one another. Not a better time to bring this trend back more than ever, don't you agree?

Giving a Nod
Now nodding and tipping your hat is somewhat similar, but this is going to take more neck muscle as you would need to give a quick nod or an excited nod depending on your mood at the moment of the bow. Easy to do, simple. Can't go wrong.
Imaginary High Five
As done by Jim and Pam from the Office, Barney from How I Met Your Mother, and so many more icons throughout history, the imaginary high five is the next best thing to an actual top five minus the hype. Still counts, though, because you even greeted the person without touching.
Imaginary Fist Bump
This one is a doozy, similar to imaginary high fives; you can also consider this an imaginary fist bump and yes, again minus the hype. Regardless this is an excellent way to greet a person, especially if they are into those things as well. Quick and straightforward, even insert a tiny hand explosion rollback to make it more interesting.
Air Kisses
The ladies popularized it if you might not have guessed that already. This is usually done when ladies greet each other but are partnered with either holding hands, hugging, or pecking. This time, it's just strictly doing air kisses, which are practically useful nowadays with all types of diseases and viruses out there. We're talking to you COVID-19.
Raise Your Eyebrows Quickly
This is a greeting popularized from the south-eastern hemisphere as when people raise their eyebrows and couple it with a smile. It would be equivalent to a nod, tipping of the hat, and a wave. Try it; you might like it. All you need is eye contact to initiate the move.
To everyone out there who is reading this, all joking aside, these are some of the ways to avoid direct physical contact with anyone to prevent the spread of not just COVID-19 but other diseases as well. Hopefully, this helps you out, and you can use one or all of them in your day to day lives without even noticing you did.
