Polaroid, best known for being maker of instant film cameras, ventured into the tablet market in 2013 by releasing a series of tablets, both for adults and kids. Now, the company seeks to expand its tablet line-up with the Q series of more powerful and better performing tablets.
The Polaroid Q Series is comprised of the 7-inch Q7, 8-inch Q8 and the 10.1-inch Q10 tablets. All the three tablets support Wi-Fi, boasts of super-fast Quad-Core processors, and runs on the new Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
"Tablets are changing the way consumers use and share their favorite media and memories, and Polaroid's robust line of tablets is allowing more consumers to share with on-the-go convenience," said Polaroid President and CEO Scott W. Hardy. "Our Q Series provides consumers with super-fast quad core processing speeds allowing for faster performance and less wait times when watching movies, or playing games. In addition the Q series' sleek design and affordable price point make it a great choice."
The new tablets feature an extended battery life, HDMI Bluetooth, front-mounted speakers, and front-facing and rear-facing cameras, but a big letdown is the fact that it does not offer 4G LTE radio support.
The new tablets, which have been designed and manufactured by Southern Telecom, an authorized Polaroid licensee, have been reasonably priced between $129 and $179 and will be made available in Spring 2014.
The Q series will be on display in the Polaroid booth #13613 at the 2014 International CES, which kicks off next week. The company will also be showing off a 50-inch 4K TV, which has been priced at $999.
