Fujifilm introduced the Instax Mini 11 to its line of instant photo cameras along with new mini Instax films - Blue Marble and square-layout Instax film - White Marble. Now, what is the difference between the modern incarnation of its Instax Mini to Instax Mini 9 as its successor?

The camera takes Instax Mini film available from Amazon in diverse styles. The Instax Mini 11 looks very similar to preceding models. But if you're torn between which instant cameras you are getting or considering an upgrade, here are the variations between the Instax Mini 11 and the Instax Mini 9.

Cosmetic Refinements

The Mini 11 is an evolution of the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 but looks extensively similar. However, Fujifilm has slightly updated the layout, bringing in a 'rounder, softer, modern, and compact look.' The new model is indeed a little bit smaller, and a fraction lighter, but not so much that you would in reality notice.

Fujifilm has also created a specific fabric across the lens from the rest of the digital camera body to provide different design factors and introduced a new variety of 5 colors that differentiate the Mini 11 from the previous version. Also new to the Instax Mini 11 is the creation of interchangeable shutter button stickers in distinctive colorings. Two of these are provided within the box.

Camera Optics

The Instax Mini 11 makes use of the same underlying layout as its predecessor, the usage of the identical 62 x 46mm Instax immediately film and keeping the same 60mm f12.7 lens used in the Instax Mini 9. However, the Mini 11 is a much better camera by two major upgrades:

Shoot In More Varied Lighting Conditions

The Mini 9 is operated by a hand switch where the user must function to choose between five special exposure settings ranging from vibrant sunshine to indoors. The accurate publicity placing is indicated on an LED show above the lens barrel previous to taking pictures.

The Mini 11 replaces this switch with a fully-automatic gadget, which means you can simply point and shoot. However, the removal of the exposure shift means you do not have the ability to override the digital camera's recommended settings. If you examine the barrel of the Mini eleven lens, you will see no exposure switch and no indicator LEDs.

Where the Mini 9 has a set shutter velocity of 1/60 sec, the Mini eleven's digital shutter will vary mechanically between 1/2 and 1/250 sec, allowing the digicam to capture correctly-exposed pictures in a far wider variety of lighting conditions, both night time and day.

The use of slower shutter speeds also allows the Mini 11 to deliver brighter backgrounds when capturing with flash.

Shoot Selfie

A new 'selfie mode' is the second one major advantage of Mini 11. Pulling the tip of the lens barrel outwards and clicking it into place allows the digicam to focus much closer than the Mini 9. This makes it less challenging to keep the digital camera while pointing it at yourself for an immediate self-portrait even as framing the shot in the camera's built-in selfie mirror. It also presents the benefit of letting you get in nearer to all other types of photography.

Price

The Instax Mini eleven will be released by mid-March with the same $69.99 rate as the Mini 9, so expect for a heavy discount if you're considering buying any of the last final stocks of the Mini 9.
