The one and only Atari has made great strides in the video game industry from iconic consoles and games under their belt. Which begs the question of what's next for this company. The answer is a game-themed hotel.
You read correctly, Atari is now focusing its gigantic efforts on being the first hotel which is entirely themed for the gamers of the world or people who would want to experience something entirely different from contemporary and modern hotels out there.
The GSD Group
Last Monday, January 27. The company announced to the press that they will be venturing into this massive project with a company called GSD Group to build hotels across the US and bring excitement to their once-popular name with this enterprise.
Atari was once held in very high regard in the gaming industry as one of the early pioneers with their consoles and arcades as well as their pc at the time which was used almost everywhere around the globe.

Other Hotels with VR and AR Game-Themed Concept
The concept, however, is not original but has not been implemented to the fullest yet by any hotels out there. MGM Resorts back in 2017 built an e-sports stadium called the HyperX Arena and no doubt did it influence people to stay there because of it. Atari's hotel enterprise is ambitious, to say the least, but looking like a very good idea, to say the least for all gamers out there who would want to go spend time at a fancy hotel with their friends while gaming to their heart's content.
What to expect
The hotel will offer gaming playgrounds that include but not limited to VR and AR games. Some locations will have places and venues to accommodate e-sports events to make sure everyone has a spot in the hotel. Besides gaming destinations in the hotel, it will still accommodate other guests with the amenities you would expect in a top-notch hotel, like meeting rooms, co-working spaces, restaurants, bars, even a bakery, movie theater, and gym. The hotel will cater to all clientele and it will be a good destination for people who would want to relax and enjoy as well as business trips.
Atari will only receive 5 percent of the hotel's revenue, while it also received around $600,000 for inking the deal in advance. This is all good news in regard do the future of the project.
All is not well however in the company since Atari VCS retro console has been reported to have significant difficulties in the R&D department, the chief developer has reported that he hasn't been paid for about six months already. Regardless of the plans in building their hotel franchise but can't pay employees on their video console, it begs the question as to how liquid the company Atari really is.
8 cities are chosen for the construction of the hotels and they are in Austin, Seattle, San Francisco, San Jose, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Denver.
