This year has less content than the previous year if a Rainbow Six Siege's Year 5 Pass leak report is to be believed. The newest season pass drops a lot of content that was previously available in previous passes, and adds two new perks.
An image has surfaced online on what could be the popular tactical shooter's next year-long pass. The post on Reddit has garnered quite a lot of attention as it has slightly but significantly shifted the contents of the season pass.
According to the Rainbow Six Siege's Year 5 Pass leak, the updated game includes the following:
- Year 5 operators with 7-day early access
- Exclusive customization options
- 10% off in the shop
- 5% Renown boost
- 0.3% Alpha Pack Boost
- 30% bonus Battle Points (not applied to challenges nor achievements)
- 30% discount on Battle Pass purchase
Missing goodies
The Year 5 Pass is different from its predecessors, as it drops the usual 600 R6 credits that come with it. Instead, it adds a 30% discount on seasonal Battle Pass (a preview of which, The Road to S.I Battle Pass, is active right now in-game). It also gives a bonus of 30% battle points, which are required to progress the Battle Pass. This means that Year 5 owners will be able to progress through the Battle Pass at a much faster rate.
Six (not eight) for fifth
However, perhaps the most surprising fact about this leak is the number of new operators to be released this year. Previously, Ubisoft has always released eight operators - four defense and four offense - throughout the year. It seems that the upcoming year will change that, as Ubisoft will be releasing two operators. While, of course, the leak isn't official, a representative from Ubisoft did comment on the Reddit post, perhaps confirming the Pass's content. Ubisoft said the following:
As our Game Director, Leroy Athanassoff stated, "We are investing our resources on building more features and systems that will impact every player in every match."
The Year 5 Pass reflects this direction focused on features that benefit all players, not just those playing the newest Operators. It will lead to additional content for all players, such as free events, extensive reworks, and other core gameplay features. More details on why we are releasing six Operators in Year 5, as well as how that leads into Year 6 and beyond, will be shared during the Six Invitational in February.
Six Invitational
While Ubisoft's representative's post seems to confirm the contents, we'll have to wait a few more days before we know what's coming to Rainbow 6 for the rest of the year. Ubisoft has always presented the year's roadmap during The Six Invitational, with this year not being any different.
The Six Invitational 2020 is the culminating tournament of Rainbow 6 Siege esports. The event brings together the top 16 Rainbow 6 Siege teams from across the world to fight for the game's World Championship. The event will be held from February 14 to 16 in the developer's hometown of Montreal, Canada.
