Since holidays are now completely finished, now's the time to back up for a little and compute all our expenses for the rest of December. Did you know how many times you booked for a flight this Christmas? How about the times you bought those various gadgets from online shops? Remember the day you 'recklessly' spent your salaries on buying new features for your latest mobile game? Don't feel bad, we've all been there.

In fact, an amount of $210 million was said to be spent on mobile games by people around the world, this past Christmas time. This was 8 percent higher compared to last year that reached only $195 million from the mobile games industry. The majority of this mobile spending came from the games category-- holding PUBG Mobile as the top-grossing mobile game while Tinder gaining the lead for the non-game app around the world.

It's Christmas Time For PUBG and Tinder

According to a report released by Sensor Tower, a mobile analyst firm, PUBG or PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Tinder-- an online dating app-- were two of the most in-demand and well-spent mobile applications that the world used for the recent Christmas event.

Interestingly, PUBG seemed to have the highest market from the past month as their market grew a whopping 431 percent higher compared to 2018. This made the game an amount of $8.5 million worldwide-- obviously higher since its 2018 revenue of $1.6 million.

On the side of the non-games app, $67 million was said to be the estimated amount of Sensor Tower that the industry gained from the market during Christmas. Having the top spot of the grossing non-game app on the survey is Tinder, with its $2.1 million revenue globally.

Disney + and Tencent Video Also Claim the Spot

As also mentioned by Sensor Tower, Disney +-- only launched in late 2019-- claimed the spot for the highest gross on entertainment section being the largest contributor for the 24 percent higher non-game spending this Christmas on App Store. Tencent Video-- Chinese video streaming website, also shared the spot with Disney plus.

Apparently, Americans have one of the highest consumer spendings from the past Christmas day. A survey showed that it had a 4.8 percent higher rate or $58 million money spent on mobile games compared to last year of only gaining $57 million. At the same time, non-game apps also surprisingly grew for about 13 percent of $22 million.

Americans Spent More Dollars This Year in Online Shopping

As reported via the New York Times, another major turnout for Americans was observed in 2019's holidays' consumer spending-- which involves more of online shopping. A retail survey showed that 18.8 percent rise in online shopping was spent by most Americans these past holidays.
