'Pokemon Sword and Shield' Weird Glitch Lets You Evolve Pokemon in the Egg

Fans have discovered a weird but useful glitch in Pokemon Sword and Shield, and people have begun exploiting it to hatch evolved Pokemon in their team, although it doesn't really serve any real benefits due to some cons.

According to Polygon, the glitch enables Pokemon Sword and Shield players to evolve the Pokemon while it's still an egg—and that it's actually an easy glitch, but will require the proper timing to complete.

Hatch Evolved Pokemon

Based on the report, players need to have an egg parent from the species and place it in their party, but it's essential that the parent is only one rare candy away from evolving and gaining another level up.

Once you have the parent egg, put the egg you want to hatch under the parent through the party menu, then take a rare candy and use it on the parent.

But that is where it gets a little tricky—once you use the rare candy, press the button and hold it down, and if your timing is correct, it should affect the egg you want to hatch rather than the parent egg.

If you've successfully done the glitch, the game should say that the egg is "evolving," and although you still need to hatch the egg, it won't be the basic Pokemon form you're expecting, but the evolved version.

If you have missed the timing, nothing will happen, and the rare candy will affect the parent egg instead.

You can also teach the unhatched egg some moves with TMs and TRs.

What are the Cons?

However, GameRant noted that the "evolved" Pokemon will be level one, and you will have to spend some time to level it up so it becomes the powerful Pokemon that you can easily use in battle.

That said, it doesn't really do that much for Pokemon Sword and Shield players unless you like having a level one evolved Pokemon in your party, or you have the extra time to grind them.

Although the glitch isn't as helpful as others want it to be, it has earned popularity over the past few days, with different gaming channels online trying it out and teaching their viewers how to do the glitch on their own.

Evolve your Male Salandit

Nevertheless, it can be a helpful glitch for those who can only catch male Salandit, as the glitch can be used to evolve even the male ones, making it useful since it's only the female ones that can evolve into the Salazzle.

According to ComicBook, it is possible that Game Freak will address the glitch and possibly fix it with the next patch, especially since it's gaining more attention, and more players have been exploiting it.

Additionally, you'll want to turn off Pokemon Sword and Shield's autosave option and manually save your game before you try the glitch so that if anything bad or unwanted happens, you can easily reset your game and go back to where you originally left.

It saves your current file and stops the glitch from possibly corrupting it and losing your progress.
