Fortnite fans are getting some sweet free loot from the Autumn Queen herself. Epic announced an in-game event that allows anyone and everyone who played Fortnite from Nov. 28 10 A.M. ET to Dec. 1 8 P.M. ET to get a free skin. And it's not just any skin. The Fallen Leaf Wrap is animated, which gives your weapons moving leaves wrap cloaked in the season's orange hues.
The best part is the quest is done by the community together. The whole of the Fortnite community just has to reach 2.5 Billion points by the deadline. While that number seems a lot, the community is already more than halfway through there (you can check progress by clicking here). Players can contribute to the quest's progress by doing the following in-game actions:
Heal allies with the Bandage Bazooka - 1 point per 1HP healed
Revive a teammate - 2 points
Play a match with a Friend - 5 points
Given that the quest is cooperative by nature, we can expect the entire Fortnite community to hit the goal right before the event ends. Additionally, expect more people to start playing over the weekend as everyone gets back from all their Thanksgiving festivities. The speed of the points being accumulated will surely be ramped up over the weekend.
The Holidays Are Just Around The Corner
Fortnite also seems to be ramping up the holiday festivities soon, probably right after the Autumn's Queen event. With Epic confirming that Fortnite Chapter 2: Season 1 extending its run until February 2020, it seems like they're also adding in Christmas themed skins and map changes in the current season.
Last year's 14 Days of Fortnite gave everyone a free reward every day they logged in, so we're expecting something similar this year around. There were also some season-themed changes, such as the Snowball launcher, a map change (though this is probably unlikely this year seeing how Epic moved the date of the next season), and daily challenges. Some select Limited Time Modes also came back for a small amount of time. And of course, Fortnite wouldn't be Fortnite without some new and returning skins.
Something for Save The World too
While Battle Royale is the far more popular mode of Fortnite, Epic hasn't forgotten about the original, base game where players build forts and defend their base - Save The World.
They've released two new weapons for the mode. The first, the Metal Marauder, uses explosive ammo to fire at large groups of enemies and blows them up in a medium-sized radius. The weapon is only available in the weekly store from Nov. 27, 7 P.M. ET to Dec. 4, 7 P.M. ET. After that, it'll be replaced by a returning favorite. The Spectral Blade is above average speed blade that has high sustained damage. Its Spectral Warp can deal large amounts of damage and can stagger smaller groups of enemies. As an added bonus, it also looks super cool. It's only available from Dec. 4, 7 P.M. ET until Dec. 11, 7 P.M. ET.
