Putting feedback or reviews to items or services—whether we like it or not—is one of the 'known' rights of a consumer. Though, admittedly, most of the customers only leave reviews when they received or experienced some negative things about the specific item—or more likely just for pranks.
However, whether it is only for fun or serious customer feedback, customer reviews are a necessity not just for the company but for its future customers. Unfortunately, the Apple store might be disregarding this major fact—what's worse is that their customers were the first to see this backlash.
What's Happening Apple?
Apple, the well-known American multinational technology company, is now having its terrible feedback. Ironically, it's because of the rumor that the company deleted its ratings and reviews tab on their online stores.
It's no news that Apple, though continuously gaining a lot of users, have their share of bad track record. Compared to other technology companies out there, Apple is known to cater their website for negative reviews from its users openly. Hats off for the company, they even gave solutions for the users, especially in the issue of their damaged new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
But through all these years of spiraled opinions of Apple users, why they had to delete the reviews tab now?
According to the report of AppleInsider on Nov. 17, the Apple store had deleted its "Rating & Reviews" tab from its online stores' websites in countries like the USA, United Kingdom, and Australia. The report was first tackled due to the complaint of a reader that first recognized the difference.
The report also revealed that between the evening of Nov. 16 and the morning of Nov. 17 were the dates that the customer review tab was erased by Apple. As of now, Apple has not yet responded to the issue of whether it is intentional or a simple technical problem.
The Problem of Not Having 'Reviews' Tab
If you are an avid supporter of the Apple store, you might be wondering why people would care so much or react so badly when Apple erased the tab?
Apple users need this review tab. Imagine yourself having to decide whether you wanted to buy a specific item from an online store. Although trusting your instinct at first can help you on your decision, reading feedback from other users or buyers can also be the greatest guide for your shopping.
According to a study from Stanford University, feedback and assessment play a major role in everyone's lives. For example, in a basketball game, players are driven more when the audience cheers and applause their team. That's the positive thing about feedback.
On the other hand, feedback are also important to identify the negative things in a person wherein adjustments or changes are applied. This same goes for Apple deleting its reviews tab.
For customers, this means two things: Apple is hiding something, or it loses its credibility. Either way, both conclusions are not a healthy sign for the company.
